Originally Human Target was set to air at the 9pm slot after America Idol, giving it a nice lead in from a strong show, but Fox has decided to make a last minute switch. After airing on the 20th at nine Target will make a switch to the 8pm slot on January 27. The news comes as a surprise, but may not be bad news for the new show.
In the 9pm slot Target would have had "Criminal Minds," "Law and Order: SVU" and the "Modern Family"/ "Cougar Town" combo to contend with. In the 8pm slot the show will have less competition and is likely to enjoy a boost in viewers mid show as Idol fans start to tune in.
According to Variety Warner and Wonderland, the producers of the hour drama, are behind the switch.
That rationale probably sits just fine with Warner Bros. TV and Wonderland, which are behind "Target" -- based on a DC Comic and graphic novel about a bodyguard who will protect against a threat by any means necessary.
